The Etymology of Subtilismus

The word Subtilismus is formed from the Latin subtilis, meaning “fine”, “delicate”, or “refined in thought”.
It evokes ideas of precision, emotional nuance, and the ability to perceive what lies beneath the surface — the unseen, the unspoken.

In medieval philosophy, subtilitas described a mind capable of grasping and expressing complexity with elegance and restraint.
